I collected transfers back when they were physically stamped by their machines, as opposed to this heat transfer thing that the machines today do. During this period, there were a number of stations with special transfers, and I'm wondering if the current brand has done away with them.

These transfers not only identified the station they were taken from, but the exit. Our theory is that they were used in cases where somebody paid their fare at one end of the station, walked through the platforms, exited the station at the other side, and transferred to a connecting bus. These transfers were legal, as opposed to the "regular" transfers taken at the same stations.

Examples of these special transfers included:

Sheppard-Pointz
York Mills South
Eglinton-Duplex
St. Clair-Pleasant Blvd
Glencairn-Viewmount
Yorkdale-Ranee
Sherbourne-Glen Road
Midland-Automatic Entrance

And probably a couple of others I missed. The transfers also used to identify which line they were taken from, opening up the possibility of Spadina - Bloor Danforth transfers differring from Spadina - Spadina transfers.
